About the Planetarium
The Planetarium opened in 1968, and its home since 2009 has been the Queen Victoria Museum at Inveresk.
The Planetarium operates a Zeiss ZKP3 star projector in conjunction with a fulldome digital system. Each year, thousands of people gaze up onto its famous dome to watch exciting feature presentations and to experience the thrill of feeling that they are out under the stars.
Each Planetarium show takes you on a journey beyond our universe from the comfort of former airline seats, and includes a live description of the night sky over Tasmania.
An entry fee applies, and tickets need to be purchased from the QVMAG front counter at Inveresk no later than 10 minutes before the show.
For Planetarium group bookings including schools please call 03 6323 3798 or email our Bookings Officer.
Please note the Planetarium is closed Sundays, Mondays and Public Holidays (with the exception of Mondays which fall within School Holidays). Planetarium shows are suitable only for ages five and over unless otherwise noted (shows marked with*).
