Zoology (including Botany)

The Zoology section manages and curates the research/reference collections of Tasmanian animals and plants and related material, and carries out research in the general areas of Zoology and Botany. The section provides information on Tasmania's flora and fauna to scientists around the world and supplies an identification service to other scientific institutions, government and non-government bodies, schools and the general public. It is also involved in the preparation of exhibitions on natural history themes for the Royal Park site of the Museum.

Zoological Project Localities
We have compiled locality data from major zoological field studies carried out in Tasmania since the early 1970s. Each locality is assigned a UTM grid reference and a latitude/longitude, and wherever possible we indicate the precision of our locating.
