Chordeumatida: Introduction Although only first reported from Australia in the mid-1980s (Golovatch 1986), Chordeumatida can be abundant in wet and montane forests. They are usually collected by the Berlese extraction method from leaf litter, and there are hundreds of still-unsorted specimens in Australian museums. For a key to the Tasmanian fauna and details of Tasmanian species, see the Chordeumatida pages on the Tasmanian Multipedes website. The following classification of Australian chordeumatidans is taken from Shelley (2003): Order Chordeumatida Pocock, 1894
