Types. 'Several pairs' (Verhoeff 1928: 107), i.e. male and female syntypes.
Locality. Fingal's Bay, Port Stephens, NSW.
Collector, date. A. Musgrave, 24 August 1920.
Deposited. AM, KS76539, labelled 'lectoparatypes, 1 male 2 females, P.M. Johns 14 12 67' (G. Milledge, AM, pers. comm.). No lectotypification has been published and the location of the other specimens is unknown.

Syntypes. 1 male and 4 females.
Locality. Mt Sassafras, Shoalhaven district, NSW.
Collector, date. Probably collected in 1889 by Australian Museum paleontologist R. Etheridge and party (Etheridge 1890). Brolemann (1913: 97) also names a polydesmidan from Mt Sassafras A. rainbowi.
Deposited. AM; KS76494 - KS76496, with labels probably added by P.M. Johns (G. Milledge, AM, pers. comm.). Another sample, KS76497, is labelled 'Topotypes, 1m, 3f, Sassafras Aug 1889, det. P.M. Johns Aug 1966.'
