'HetAus'

(Order Polyzoniida, family Siphonotidae)

HetAus

This diminutive polyzoniidan, which rarely grows longer than 10 mm, has an unmistakable colour pattern. It was first collected in 1935. 'HetAus' is semi-arboreal but can also be found in non-forest habitats. It usually occurs in multi-aged groups.

Widespread in Tasmania from sea level to ca. 900 m, 'HetAus' is also known from central and eastern Victoria (Dennis Black, pers. comm.). It can be abundant in Pinus radiata plantations (Bonham et al. 2002).
