Drop-in community fibre workshops (virtual)

Join us at QVMAG during Science Week to make your own woven piece with natural fibres.

Watch a video tutorial featuring Aunty Patsy Cameron and Aunty Vicki West then enjoy a self-guided creative practice using different fibres to create your own piece to take home. Stay for 10 minutes or 2 hours.

Discover which of the natural fibres grow in the new QVMAG Aboriginal garden and learn about traditional plants.

Aboriginal cultural practice has involved intricate fibre work for thousands of years and contemporary Aboriginal artists continue the practice today using both traditional fibres and experimenting with new ones.

Be inspired to try these techniques for yourself at home, however please note participants are encouraged to use plants that have been grown in their own garden.

No booking required, but numbers are limited.

All materials will be supplied.
