QVMadness returns to the Museum at Inveresk for a day of sci-fi fun. From 11am to 3pm, the Museum will be transformed into a hub of activities and programs for all ages.

Enjoy free space 'craft' activities, or create a cosmic costume. Join a fascinating talk about space travel, or dress to impress in our Cosplay Competition. Take an out-of-this-world photo at our PhotoSpace Stations, or learn some nifty moves from the Tasmanian Litesabre Alliance.

Just like the expansion of the universe, our Cosplay Competition is even bigger in 2024. With prizes in our 3 categories: Adult, Kids, and Upcycled - come and show off your best cosplay from any genre on the QVMAG catwalk.

Tasmanian Litesabre Alliance patrol 

The premier wielders of The Force in Northern Tasmania, the Tasmanian Litesabre Alliance, will be patrolling QVMAG to demonstrate the art of lightsabre fight choreography and defend against the Dark Side… and might also be available for a selfie.

Astronomer Q&A: Faster Than Light travel: Science fiction or fact?

Astronomer and Senior Planetarium Officer, Chris Arkless, takes attendees on a journey out of this world to discuss the possibility of Faster Than Light travel. What speed would we need to travel to go boldly where no man has gone before? And what problems might we encounter on this galactic journey?

Make it Place - Space 'craft'

Spend a spacecraft-ternoon at Mission Control and make weird and wonderful sci-fi creations in our free Make it Place activity session. You can even make a costume to enter in our Cosplay Competition - Upcycled category. All materials are supplied, so let your imagination soar to new heights and new realms to create anything you can imagine.

PhotoSpace Station

Travel the cosmos without leaving Launceston with our interstellar photo stations. With 2 different displays located throughout the Museum, there's no need to pack a bag to look like you're in outer space - simply take your best shot.

Dark Side of the Moon: a Pink Floyd experience

Celebrating 50 years since the Pink Floyd's iconic album launch, Dark Side of the Moon will immerse you in a full-dome musical extravaganza set to the band's iconic soundtrack.

With a run-time of 45 minutes, this show will take you on an incredible visual journey through the solar system and beyond.
