The QVMAG Arts Foundation are now seeking local support to secure the acquisition of this important work into QVMAG's collection with the launch of the ‘Masterpiece for Tasmania’ fundraising campaign.

“We see this work as something that has been developing for over 40 years in the artist Raymond Arnold’s mind. Every mark has significance and depth matching to the end quality result of the unique environment of West Coast Tasmania.” Jennie Chapman, Chair of the Arts Foundation said.

Raymond Arnold's career spans over 40-years. He is a nationally renowned master printmaker.

Since moving to Queenstown over 10-years ago to set-up his studio, Raymond Arnold has dedicated himself to developing a thriving arts scene on the west coast by supporting festivals, exhibitions and artist residencies.

Arnold's passion for his community and the landscape of Queenstown is evident in this work. Each mark etched into the 100 copper plates that form this print is indicative of his artistic excellence.

The dramatic landscape of Queenstown has inspired this ambitious work. At 11-metres in length, the scale and detail of Elsewhere World captures the unique ruggedness of Tasmania's west coast.

In previous ‘Masterpiece for Tasmania’ campaigns the Arts Foundation has supported major acquisitions by Fred Williams, Rick Amor and Ben Quilty with the assistance of community support.

This artwork will be avaliable for public veiwing upon the opening of the new Royal Park galleries on August 1st.

The full installation of the work will be completed by February 2022.
