Have you ever been tempted to pick up a new musical instrument and see what sounds you could string together? If so, this event might be just for you!

The Launceston Improvised Music Association, with support from the City of Launceston and Arts Tasmania, is expanding its weekly 'Free for All' events at Sawtooth ARI every Sunday at 4pm between June and October and everyone is invited!

Whether you have musical talent — or none at all — create music-in-the-moment with this free weekly art program.

This two-hour immersive experience is broken down into two parts:

  1. Set one: this first set is an improvised performance delivered by a local artist(s). The performance can engage any art form, including but not limited to poetry, opera, music, dance, musical theatre and visual arts.
  2. Set two: in this second set, you're encouraged to create music-in-the-moment by finding an instrument that's new to you and attempting to string a tune together with everyone in the room, creating a unique soundscape of music.

A new weekly line up of artists is released monthly, with July including:

  • Words & Sounds - July 25th

To join, simply attend on the day!
