Create, connect and celebrate with friends old and new during this free creative session.
Sit, weave, and yarn with friends old and new in this FREE activity celebrating culture, creativity and connection.
Participants are invited to make a bracelet while sharing in conversation about the importance of contemporary cultural practices, the Aboriginal flag, and the significance of NAIDOC Week.
Choose from two bracelet-making activities:
- Woven string bracelets – Learn how to weave a traditional Aboriginal string bracelet, finished with beads coloured using ballawinne (red ochre), a natural pigment with deep cultural significance.
- Flag-inspired beaded bracelets – Create a bracelet using beads in the red, yellow, and black of the Aboriginal flag.
Whether you stay for a few minutes or settle in for longer, this is a welcoming space to slow down, have a yarn, and connect with culture.
NAIDOC Week 2025 marks a significant milestone: 50 years of honouring and elevating Indigenous voices, culture, and resilience.
This year’s theme, The Next Generation: Strength, Vision & Legacy, celebrates the achievements of the past and the bright future ahead, empowered by the strength of our young leaders, the vision of our communities, and the legacy of our ancestors.
