Witness the artist at work.

Watch the development of a new Mooney woodwork sculpture live in the Nest gallery space.

Nest artist and Launceston local, Alastair Mooney, will share his craft with the community at Queen Victoria Art Gallery at Royal Park on Saturday 17th April from 10:30am to 12:30pm.

With a real-time question and answer session, Senior Curator Ashleigh Whatling will moderate discussions with the artist at work.

In his first major solo exhibition, Nest, Tasmanian interdisciplinary artist Alastair Mooney debuted a series of new works that reflect on the resilience and beauty of Tasmania's native birdlife in the face of human consumption and destruction.
Mooney's practice is heavily influenced by his early life in George Town, on the northern coast of Tasmania, which fostered a deep connection to the natural environment and native birds.
Combining the innovative use of materials and recognisable local iconography, Mooney is able to connect with his audience through humour, beauty, pop culture and natural science.
Free drop in session from 10:30am to 12:30pm on Saturday 17th April.
