The monthly Our people, their stories: oral histories of Northern Tasmania talks presented by the QVMAG Friends reveal the personal stories of a diverse range of people who enrich the lives of our community.

Telling our story through fragrance

With British/Australian author, journalist, writer and former ABC broadcaster Hilary Burden

Tasmania is an aromatic island with unique native botanicals. For Tasmania-based author and Undersong perfumer Hilary Burden, Nature is the original perfumer.

Hilary forages, steam distils, blends, bottles and packs Undersong wild fragrances all by hand, as close to nature as it’s possible to be in a fragrance.

You will learn how Hilary’s career has a writer and former broadcaster, specialising in the stories of this wild island, has led to her learning how to make perfume from the French masters.
