This weekend the Queen Victoria Museum and Art Gallery will host their next workshop with local artist Penny Mason.

Participants will join Penny for an intimate workshop session at the Art Gallery at Royal Park, guiding guest through a series of drawing exercises to hone their skill of drawing the human figure.

Beginners and experienced drawers alike are encouraged to join the workshop to learn from Penny in a close-knit learning environment.

With a painting career spanning over four decades, Penny’s main interests circulate around the idea of landscape in the context of Tasmania, particularly the representation of land, country, sites, and views.

Throughout her practice, Penny's work is generated by using randomising techniques while exploiting temperature, gravity, vibration and frost etching to create fields and surfaces that evoke landscape features and details within.

A survey of Penny’s work is currently on display in the exhibition Mason | Marsden at the Art Gallery at Royal Park alongside the work of her partner David Marsden.

This exhibition will be on display until 16 July with free entry.
