Saxophone soundbath: new event series launches at QVMAG this month
If you wander into the Queen Victoria Art Gallery at Royal Park this month, you might just be greeted by an impromptu music experience.
This will be the case for visitors to the Art Gallery on Saturday 15 November as QVMAG launches its new, free Art + Performance event series – starting with a live performance from Tasmanian saxophonist, Spike Mason.
Visitors on the day will step into a sonic sanctuary through a live sound bath experience set to the backdrop of landscape photography in the exhibition Traces: Chris Bell.
This unique performance invites you to slow down and tune in, as Mason weaves natural sound textures and ambient tones into a meditative soundscape that resonates with the visual stillness of Bell’s photography.
This free event is designed as a drop-in experience – stay for 10 minutes or linger for the full duration.
Designed as a rolling showcase of musicians, dancers and performers, the Art + Performance series will add new dimension to exhibitions on display across the Museum and Art Gallery sites.
