Explore the colourful and creative world of Gelli plate printing and discover the amazing effects you can create to make your own artwork.

Get hands-on with Gelli plate printing in the Learning Centre at the Museum at Inveresk. Experiment with colour, texture and pattern to create unique prints to take home.

Using soft, flexible gel plates, acrylic paint and a range of everyday materials and textures, you will experiment with layering, mark-making, pattern and colour to create one-of-a-kind monoprints. No two prints are ever quite the same, so you never know what surprising results you might uncover.

We will explore different techniques for creating textures and impressions on the plate before transferring your designs onto paper. You will have plenty of opportunities to experiment, play with colour and develop your own creative ideas.

Whether you are new to printmaking or simply love getting messy and making art, Gelli printing is an accessible and exciting way to discover the magic of printmaking – and you will have your own collection of colourful original artworks to take home.
