With a sensitive eye for the overlooked, Eugenie Howard elevates the humble bathroom sink into a site of emotional complexity. In Sink as Self, personal and domestic rituals are imbued with meaning—where cleanliness, care, and neglect become metaphors for inner states.

Through realism tinted with expression, Eugenie transforms ordinary moments into contemplative vignettes. Her work explores how everyday spaces mirror identity, wellbeing, and the invisible layers of personal experience.

A dedicated artist and Co-Art Captain at St Patrick’s College, Eugenie has embraced a wide range of media, finding her voice in acrylic paint and observational still life. Her work often stems from photographed personal moments and revisits classical influences such as Monet and van Gogh.

On being included in the 2024 cohort for ArtRage, Eugenie said, “Being selected is a dream come true—it’s a show I’ve always admired.”

In 2025, she will move to the mainland to study Occupational Therapy, combining her creative passion with a desire to help others.

Her advice to TCE students:

“Don’t be afraid to pivot. If something isn’t bringing you joy, it’s okay to change direction.”
